5. Describe the character/s or the main protagonist/s.
Hugo is a shy, lonely, young boy who lives in a train station because of his parent's death. At the beginning of the film he appears to be very depressed but once he becomes friends with a few people he feels like he belongs. One of these people who he meets the young girl named Isabelle who assists Hugo with his mystery.
6. Describe the main antagonist/s.
The station inspector is the main antagonist in the film and is always looking around to catch orphans and stop thieves. He is continually in search for Hugo and tries to get hold of him so he can be placed in an orphanage. Georges Méliès also appears to be an antagonist throughout most of the movie but near the end, it turns out he isn't what it seems like.
7. Who are the other important characters in the major plot? Briefly describe each character and the role they have in ensuring the film progresses.
Madame Emilie is not as important but is still shown many times throughout the film, she is the lady who always sits at the table with her dog. Lisette is the flower lady who the station inspector is in love with.
8. Briefly describe the main plot. (Include the introduction, climax and conclusion)
The main character is a little boy named Hugo. He lives in a train station all alone and maintains the clocks around the station. The antagonist is a station inspector who is familiar with Hugo and is always looking for homeless children to put into the orphange and often falsey accuses them of doing things that they didn't actually do.
9. Briefly describe at least one subplot in this film.
One of the subplots in the film is when Hugo is trying to fix the automaton. He tries everything he can and is desperate, until he finally meets the girl who has the one thing he needs, the key. He ends up fixing the automaton which then leads to the main plot of finding a family and solving the mystery.
